What is EFT ?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an emotional version of acupuncture but without needles. EFT is easy to learn in less than 10 minutes, and the results are astounding. EFT incorporates a gentle tapping process to specific points on the face and body while you tune into your stress or negative emotional state of mind. The results are sometimes instant and often long lasting relief is easy to attain. Clients and practitioners of EFT have reported successful results in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, physical and personal performance issues. Client’s have said that EFT often worked on a problem where nothing else had.

Here is list of results you might experience:

* Fast release from the negative effects of daily stress and anxiety.

* Release of the intensity from painful emotions such as a break-up of a relationship, a loss of a job, past  traumas including PTSD experiences.

* Release from emotional issues caused by fear, anger, sadness, depression and resentments.

* When performed correctly, EFT can clear ones mind and body just like an acupuncture treatment.

* Clients receiving EFT for Weight Loss report it gave them the ability to easily stick to their diet plan.

The whole process launches off the “EFT Discovery Statement” which says…

“The cause of all negative emotions is a

disruption in the body’s energy system.”

And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions the following statement has also proven to be true…

“Our unresolved negative emotions and trauma are major

contributors to most physical pains and diseases.”

How does EFT work?

During EFT sessions clients are coached in the following 3 steps:

1.  Tune into the specific emotional, physical or mental issue: (the disruption)

2. Perform repeating a Set-Up Affirmation

3. Follow a simple tapping routine using their fingertips. (See diagram below).

  • Once these 3 easy steps are combined, an important link is created between the mind and body and a chain reaction occurs to facilitate a release of the issues that was causing a negative experience.

  • EFT tapping can also aid in creating new beliefs and new attitudes to increase self esteem, confidence and a positive self image.

How is EFT based on Energy Medicine?

Energy Medicine is based on Chinese m healing systems and draws its power from (1) time-honored Eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5,000 years and (2) Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920’s that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy. These ideas have been largely ignored by conventional medicine and that is why when one applies EFT, it often works where nothing else could.

Energy Medicine is also based on the concept that human beings are infused with subtle forms of energies or (bio-forms) that can be consciously directed by the individual or practitioner to improve ones health.

Peak Performance using EFT

The mental edge raises the actor from average to elite.  It distinguishes the Tiger Woods from the guy you never heard of who spent the same amount of time practicing.  The difference between good and bad days is almost always due to emotional causes. Barring sickness, the actor always brings the same highly skilled body to the sports arena. The only thing that changes is the effect the emotions have on the body.

All actors have their share of negative thoughts and self doubt: these negative emotions disrupt the body’s energy system. When negative emotion starts to creep in it makes your muscles tense, which affects your timing, rhythm and even your impulses. EFT is an emotional form of acupuncture. Instead of using needles we tap on the well established meridian points with our fingertips. This balances the energy system and allows the athlete to be calm, focused and relaxed under pressure.

For Actors  EFT Addresses Three Main Areas:

1. Expanding the actor’s comfort zone.  The comfort zone is the mental place where an athlete subconsciously believes he belongs.  It is what keeps performance at its current level. Performers have a tendency to accumulate lots of unconscious self limits and self-defeating beliefs that can sabotage their performance.Performers must mentally see themselves at the new level before they will achieve it constantly.  Incredibly I have often been able to change the limiting beliefs of performers in a matter of minutes.

2. Erasing negative feelings that can get in the way of peak performance.  Erasing negative feelings that get in the way of peak performance.  These feelings usually revolve around the following: frustration, anxiety, fears, expectations and physical tension.

3. Focusing on problems in specific areas of the athletes performance.  Focusing on problems in specific areas of the actor’s performance or audition history.  EFT can be used to focus on whatever is not working in the performer’s performance and remarkably in most cases put it right.

Using EFT to develop mental toughness

Inner belief and confidence under pressure are qualities all great performers possess. It’s a quality most other performers ( and their agents/managers) sometimes, spend a lifetime trying to acquire.  The majority of actors never get close to that level of certainty in themselves and their abilities, because over time they accumulate a number of self-defeating thoughts and emotions. These occur sub-consciously and therefore outside of the players awareness. This subtle build up of negative thinking usually results in progress being sabotaged.  EFT can help actors get the belief and level of certainty in themselves. How? By erasing the negative self-defeating thinking that has built up over the years, and by using the body’s energy system to accelerate the process of goal setting.

EFT has also shown impressive results when helping actors with the following normally, debilitating problems when competing: anxiety, self doubt and choking.  When the player is in control of their negative emotions, they have an opportunity to experience the elusive, ideal emotional climate for performance. The Ideal Performance State (IPS). IPS is characterized by a combination of feelings: physical relaxation, mental calmness, low anxiety, energy intensity, and optimism.  These are the ideal feelings actors need to experience during performance, under pressure. EFT is remarkable at helping the actors create a pressure free zone, when the situation is difficult and at its most threatening, an essential skill for performance success.
